Introducing Devise Color of the Month

It was an overcast day in late 2025 when Pantone announced its Color of the Year: “Cloud Dancer.” The internet immediately pounced on the colormonger for selecting what was, in the internet’s eyes, white with a fancy name.

To right this wrong, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to peer deep into Pantone’s vast color repository and bring light to the equally worthy, if less recognized, colors therein, with the goal of honoring one color every month.

After poring over a nearly infinite number of swatches, we have decided to award, by unanimous choice, Devise January Color of the Month to PANTONE 13-0858 Vibrant Yellow. With its combination of first-light energy, lofty potential, caffeinated spirit, and, well, actual color, it’s the right choice for a new year and a fresh start.

Even if it won’t inspire as much vitriol (read: media-grabbing attention) as would a shade of white.

Where to use it

Apply liberally to mantras, new year’s resolutions, therapy breakthroughs, and good vibes.

Where to avoid it

Use sparingly around red wine spills, funeral processions, and dark academia.
